After his release from prison, mob boss Dwight “The General” Manfredi is exiled to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he builds a new criminal empire with a group of unlikely characters. Sylvester Stallone’s first starring role in a television series. Dwight “The General” Manfredi: I don’t really go to church. The series of opening credits shows various photographic and painted views and landmarks of Oklahoma superimposed on the New York landscape: A statue of the Sioux Indian chief “Touch the Clouds” wearing a battle bonnet and bone breastplate (breastplate) placed at the top of the Brooklyn Bridge The Golden Digger statue placed over the Statue of Liberty, Route 66’s West Gateway Arch placed over a major Manhattan “avenue”.

In New York City, in the borough of Manhattan, there are several numbered “avenues” that are intersected by smaller numbered streets. I watched this out of curiosity, no high expectations, just surprised to see Stallone in a series. You can feel the tension in the scenes, and it looks quite realistic to the extent that the plot would require it. I wouldn’t say it’s humorous, but some funny scenes of Dwight (Stallone) coming out of a 25-year sentence and not fully integrated into the way the world works now; so I guess the sudden transition will give him some interesting hiccups down the road for us.
Glad someone told him how to use Uber, it was funny while it lasted
It’s a pretty clever plot, but not in a loud, witty way, which bodes well. Sure, Stallone is a huge presence, but the rest of the cast looks pretty good. The show literally feels like you took gangsters written for an early 90s movie and just threw them into 2022, which is a nice mix of humor and violence. I thought it would just be a throwaway spectacle like some of Stallone’s recent films; I rely mostly on his name and performance, but Taylor Sheridan does a good job here with writing worthy of Stallone’s performance.
If it continues like this great, if it improves it will be fantastic
I think it will be fun to watch the macho Stallone build a criminal empire from scratch in the middle of nowhere Tulsa. I like how it sometimes feels like a Western Oatmeal while still being mob. I think the series may go unnoticed and then get a buzz later on with people wondering how they never discovered it sooner as I haven’t seen much publicity from Paramount. I didn’t have high expectations, but if the first episode is anything to go by, this could be a really fun show.
I’ll add a note after more episodes come out and update if anything changes drastically in the series
